Chase just finished another fall season of soccer and boy did he have a blast! We moved him to a new league this fall that was supposed to be more competitive than the YMCA and it definitely was! Chase, Carson, Sam and Blake all moved to this team together which was nice to have some friends to play with. Our new coach, Scott, is an ex-professional soccer player and he did a really great job with the kids. They had practice for an hour every Tuesday night and then a game every Saturday for 8 weeks. The best part was that the fields were literally across the street from our house and within walking distance :)
The first few weeks we got smoked but then the kids kept getting better and better and you could see their skills improve week by week. The last game of the season (shown below) we played the same team that we played week 1. We had gotten killed the first week but this last game was a complete 180 and we beat them!! It was so amazing to watch our kids play the same team and see how far they had come and so fun to win the final game of the season! They don't technically keep score at this age but I bet we won about half of the games.
It was really fun to watch Chase's improvement over this season as well. By the end of the season he was dribbling so much better, he is really good at switching from offense to defense when needed...he is so tired afterwards from so much running - lol! He has also gotten so much better at being a team player. If he sees another player on his team get the ball he kind of hangs out behind them and lets then have a chance but then if they lose it he dives in there. He also scored at least one goal every single game! It is so fun to see how much they have changed over the last couple years - it isn't just a big huddle anymore, they actually have some skills :)
We are going to take a break for the winter but I'm sure it will time to play again before we know it!
Receiving his medal from Coach Scott
