The first week of August my mother and father in law rented a house in Steamboat Springs for our whole family to enjoy 5 days together to close out summer before all the kids started school again! We had such a fun time exploring Steamboat and stayed active with hiking, biking and paddleboarding! We always do themed nights when we go on trips, so every night we each took a turn hosting a theme night (costumes, food, games, the whole 9 yards!)
Such a fun time together as a family :)
Arriving and ready for relaxation and family time!
Hadley became obsessed with ice on this trip and was constantly digging in all the coolers
A friendly game of football for the boys
The girls!
2 of my loves...
A couple different nights we played baseball in the front yard! Really just the kids taking turns hitting and us competing to see who could catch it in the outfield :)
Hot tub time
Closing out our first night (I didn't get any pictures but Brad and Melissa put together an amazing Casino night! Roulette and all! They are so creative and think of every detail)
Marae and Hads playing on the deck - she is such an awesome babysitter!
Spending the day at the hot springs pool! One of the best parts was that I got to spend a couple hours with my friend, Bethy who was in town with her daughter and sister in law for work! So fun meeting up with her at the pool and catching up.
Another round of baseball out front that night!
Bronco themed night since they played their first pre-season game that night
Families competing to see who could do the best cheers - our family won thank you very much!
Hadley getting dressed in her "athletic gear" for our hike the next day
We hiked to a gorgeous waterfall and spent some time playing in the water (this is where they shoot the commercials for Coors beer!)
Later that afternoon we went paddleboarding in a nearby reservoir. I stayed back so Hadley could nap but once she woke up we were still able to meet up with everyone for the last 45 minutes or so!
That night was our Chinese themed night put on by Marvin, Carol and Ty. It was amazing and I cannot believe the thought and time that they put into such a fun night! Down to every last detail :) We had to wait in the basement while they got set up upstairs!
She made hats for all the boys
Crazies
Every person entered by bowing to my mother in law while she welcomed them in a little Chinese voice - lol!
Serving tea and giving each child a fortune and teaching them to smile with pencils
Entering the dining room for dinner
Lots of fun and games the rest of the night
Saturday we headed downtown with just the 5 of us for breakfast before meeting us with everyone else for a family bike ride.
We all rented bikes (Brady and Hads in a trailer together) and had the most gorgeous bike ride right along the river. We ended up going 13 miles roundtrip! At the halfway point there was a park and a really cool bike park (with ramps and jumps) that the kids were having a blast with. I didn't take any pictures on our bikes beside these 3 - darn!! So fun and pretty though!
We were in charge of the last theme night and we did a Toga party! We had italian food, sangria, and we held chariot races, grape bobbing contests and gave out medals to all the kids :)
Decorating their "chariots"
Kid chariot races... (relay race around a tree in their cardboard box they decorated). The adults went afterwards and you had to finish your drink as you were running...it was quite entertaining :)
Bobbing for grapes
Sunday we packed up and headed home with a lot more amazing family memories in tow!
