Evergreen Wedding Weekend

A few weekends ago we celebrated the wedding of one of our closest friends up in the mountains in Evergreen!  John has grown up with Craig and most of their childhood memories involve each other.  John was also the one that introduced Craig and I and he was the best man in our wedding!  He is like a brother to both of us and we are very close with his entire family.

It was so amazing to spend Friday through Sunday celebrating his wedding to Gretchen, who is such a perfect match for him!  We love her and knew from the first time we spent time with them together that she was the one :)  We took Hads with us to the celebration and left the boys with Jill and Don.  They were so excited to spend the weekend with their cousins!

Not only was the wedding amazing, it was also just such a great weekend to spend time with some of our closest college friends.  We have such a tight knit group of friends from college still but it is getting harder and harder to find time to get together.  A wedding is perfect because it forces you to all find sitters and make plans to get together!  Hads was a trooper and was such a good baby the whole time.  She slept great, which was a nice benefit to our roommates, Katie and Adam, for the weekend!  We shared a 2 bedroom suite and the wedding party took over this cute bed and breakfast hotel.

I didn't take as many photos as I wished I would have just because of being busy with Hadley but I got a couple to document the weekend.

A photo with the couple at the rehearsal dinner

All the guys heading into town Saturday to get lunch and watch some football before the big event!
(Katie, Hadley and I headed to a restaurant on the golf course to drink some wine, watch CSU take on Wyoming and catch up on girl talk!)

A few pics of the ceremony - Hadley slept the whole time thank goodness :)

Grabbing a drink at a bar between the ceremony and the reception
(Dana loving on Hads before having her own baby girl 3 days later!)

The outside deck at the Evergreen Lake House!  Such a gorgeous setting for a reception!

"Uncle" Adam making Hadley laugh!

Joey's funny and sincere Best Man speech

Having some fun at the reception!  Poor Hads was struggling a bit at the reception because it was soo loud so we spent a lot of time outside and in the bathroom - lol!

Craig and John's parents - they have been friends for decades!

I had to include this photo because it cracks me up!  It is at the end of the night and we wanted a family photo.  It is a terrible picture and everyone is blurry, eyes closed, etc but the person taking it was so drunk that they thought it looked amazing - classic!  Lol

Sunday we spent a little time at the brunch hosted by John and Gretchen and then we headed home to see the boys!  Such a fun weekend and so great to see one of our closest friends so happy!

3 Months Old

Hadley turned 3 months old on October 10th!  It is amazing how much she has changed in such a short amount of time and she is turning into such a strong and interactive little girl!  The days of her sleeping all day and being a "newborn" are almost hard to remember already!

This was our toughest photo shoot so far because she is just so curious so she didn't want to look up at me, lol!  She kept looking down at the bear and trying to roll over!  Craig and Chase helped get her attention and we finally at least caught some with her head up :)

WEIGHT:
I have no idea how much she weighs since we don't have another appt until she is 4 months old.  She is growing out of her clothes though and I had to pack away all of her newborn jammies and clothes - tear :(  I think she is still a pretty petite 3 month old but she is definitely getting bigger and bigger everyday.  When we were in Vail a guy asked me how old she was and I told him 3 months....he said "oh wow, I would have said 6-8 weeks and I am a pediatrician!"  Lol - I guess she still looks pretty little to other people!

SLEEPING:
Hadley is still on a "sleep when you want" schedule throughout the day at Grandma & Papa's house.  I am totally fine with it, with all of our kids they usually didn't fall into a good napping schedule until around 6 months old.  At night she is on a much more consistent schedule.  She goes to sleep around 9pm, gets up between 2-3am to eat, eats for about 20 minutes and goes right back to sleep until around 5:45am.  She is still in a bassinet next to our bed so I just sit up in bed, pick her up, nurse her in bed and put her right back down.  I then go down and pump so I have enough milk for the next day but all in all we aren't too sleep deprived in our household :)  Then again, having 3 small children, being tired is just part of everyday life! She still likes being swaddled at night so she still sleeps in a sleep sack with another blanket around her legs.

EATING:
Now that I am back at work (boo) Hadley is drinking from a bottle throughout the day at my in-laws house.  She is still 100% breastmilk and is doing a good job so far of going back and forth from nursing to bottle.  I nurse her in the morning before Craig takes her, then she has 4 bottles filled with 3 1/2 oz of breastmilk throughout the day and then I nurse her usually 2 more times before bed and once in the middle of the night.  I have to pump 3 times during the day while working to have enough milk for the next day.  Right now I am pumping exactly enough for what is needed the next day so I am hanging on!  I have never produced a ton of breastmilk so it is definitely a full time job in itself to keep up with her!

PLAYTIME AND TEMPERAMENT:
Hadley is still a very easy baby, although she has had a couple rough days at Grandma and Papa's with a little stomach bug.  I think her stomach got upset from a couple different rounds of antibiotics I had to take for sicknesses, so we are giving her a probiotic everyday and hoping it helps her feel better.  She smiles like crazy and has even started giggling a little!  Craig can get some cute giggles by tickling her with his chin right under her ribs :)

She does great on her playmat on the floor but she will not stay on her back for even a second!  As soon as you put her down she flips onto her stomach and pulls her head up - it is amazing how strong that little thing is :)  She has even started rolling so she will move a few feet across the room.  She loves music and loves when the boys and I sing to her!  She also still loves bathtime and all 3 of them laugh when we sing "Splish Splash) to her while she is in the bath! (The boys are obsessed with helping me bath her - they think it is so cute and fun!)

You are getting so big Hadley girl!
We love you with all our hearts!

Had to include a few outtakes from our photo shoot - lol....

Using Buzz Lightyear to get her to look up!

Afterwards Chase had to hold her of course :)
He is so in love and he loves that he can make her smile now!

Vail Anniversary Getaway

9 years...married to this man :)
Lucky me!

I cannot believe it has been 9 years, however; when I think back to where we were when we got married, it seems like a lifetime since then!  We were living in San Diego a couple blocks from the beach enjoying the carefree days of newlyweds :)  We had fun jobs, fun coworkers, great friends and my sister and Jim to hang out with every weekend.  We would park our cars on Friday after work and not use them again until Monday morning.  We would walk to the beach, walk to bars and just enjoyed being 23 and living in a beach town.  Those were the days!

Since then we have moved to LA, moved to CO, bought our first house and have had 3 kids - whew!  Although the days of San Diego were amazing, it was just one of the many stages of life.  We are loving our life 9 years later...building our family and being in the throws of raising 3 beautiful little people!

This year for our anniversary we decided to plan a getaway to Vail.  We LOVE mountain getaways and since we usually go to Breckenridge, we decided to try something different.  Although it wasn't a total getaway since we brought Hadley along, it was still sooo nice to have quality time together where we could be on our own pace, go to late dinners and actually talk to each other - ha!  It takes us like 3 hours to tell eachother a story at home with all the interrupting so it was a nice change for a weekend :)

Heading up to Vail Friday night

The hotel we stayed at was beautiful and perfect for what we wanted.  It was very family friendly, great hot tubs, fireplaces, beautiful views and a free shuttle that would take you into town all day and all night!

Bundled up as we went to dinner at an Italian restaurant Friday night!  She was an angel and let us enjoy our meal and share a bottle of wine.  When was the last time we went to dinner at 9pm - loved it!

The next morning we woke up to a gorgeous view off our balcony!  W could hear the creek the night before but it was too dark to see so it was so exciting to wake up to this!  Craig went and got us coffee and we bundled up and enjoyed it on the deck.

We got Hads snuggled up in her new winter jumper I bought and went on a hike on a path right along the creek into town for a couple miles.  The leaves were gorgeous!!!

After our hike we got back to the hotel and changed for the hottub.  We were actually able to go in for about an hour and Hads just slept in her carseat right next to us - woo hoo!  After that we got ready and headed into town to find a sports bar to watch CSU play.  We found a perfect bar with an AMAZING view.

We enjoyed the sunshine on the huge deck before the game started

Then headed inside to watch our Rammies - they lost - boo :(

Later that night we got changed and had a great dinner in town at a hip new restaurant that was recommended to us.  The food was awesome and the atmosphere was right up our alley - good find!  It was called Mountain Standard if anyone is ever in the Vail area :)

Sunday we slept in a bit, got ready and then headed home to see our boys!  I definitely missed them and it was cute to pull up to Craig's parents and see them playing out front.  They ran to the car and were excited to see us!  They had such a great time with Grandma and Papa though - they went to the circus, a birthday party, Chase played a soccer game, etc...whew!

What a great anniversary trip - we will definitely be back!  Love you babe!

One of our good friends, Brett, texted us and said, "Happy Anniversary you two. Thanks for showing the rest of us how to do it right."  My response?  "Marry your best friend and the rest is easy!"

Labor Day in CA

We spent Labor Day in CA and due to the massive amount of photos between Christine and I, this post is long overdue :)  We decided to head out to CA for Labor Day for a couple reasons:

1) Hadley wanted to meet Aunt Christine, Uncle Jim & Ben
2) We LOVE spending summer weekends at my parents because the kids have a ball swimming all day long and it basically feels like we are staying at a resort!
3) To spend some good quality time with Grandma and Papa T, Christine, Jim, Ben & Uncle Ty
4) Visit CA friends that we only get to see like once a year

We had such a wonderful trip and the kids (and us) were sad to come home!
Can't wait to head out to CA again for Christmas!

Ready to head to the airport
The boys wore their pajamas since it was a late night flight.  All 3 kids did awesome and the flight there was easy and uneventful.  Hadley did amazing on her 1st flight and didn't make a peep!  We have traveled with the kids so much that we don't get overwhelmed when traveling with them.  I always buy some new items from the $1 section at Target that are surprises waiting in their backpacks and they get excited on the plane for snacks and apple juice.  Sometimes I think parents freak out too much when traveling - you will survive and make it, and the calmer you are the calmer your kids are :)

Ben playing with Hadley our first morning there

Papa getting some Hadley time!

Ben and Brady playing guns

And a little game of battleship - lol

Christine has a nice camera now so we got some great photos of Hadley this trip...

 Pool Time!

My parents got the coolest boats that have a motor and a spray gun!  The boys loved them!

Snack time

Rough life :)

Uncle Jim still hasn't learned that the slide is for the kiddos - lol :)

One of the most amazing moments for me on this trip was that Chase learned how to really swim!!  He has been in lessons for a long time now and he does well but I have still never felt confident that he is pool safe.  Up until now he has still always worn a floatie.  Well, on the Friday we were there we started telling Chase to jump off of the side of the hot tub and into the pool and to swim to Craig.  He was hesitant but finally tried it.  From that moment on he kept getting more and more confident.  The best moment was when he slid down the slide head first and then continued to swim across the whole pool!!!!!  I have a video of it but need to figure out how to upload it!  It was amazing!  My parents have a really deep pool so he can't reach anywhere but the whole rest of the trip he did without a floatie (except a few times when he was tired and needed a break.)  It was such a cool experience and I am so excited that he is now officially a swimmer!!!

We got some group shots of the cousins - yay!  Thanks for the matching jammies Grandma!

Brady getting a horsey ride from Uncle Ty!

Saturday we spent at The Lagoon in Irvine.  We went a few years ago and had such a blast so we were excited to go again!  We went with Devin and her family and had such a great day.  The lagoon is shallow so the kids can touch, the slides are really fun and the sand area was great for building castles and playing with trucks!

Jim and Christine taking over the pool during "adult swim time"!  Lol, they thought they were on a relaxing vacation in Mexico for like 2 minutes :)

That night we relaxed at home and enjoyed a gorgeous sunset!

Sunday we had a pool party/BBQ and invited lots of friends over!  It was so fun to see how much everyone's kids had grown and we had a great day playing in the pool, playing toys inside, watching the CSU/CU game and ending with some nighttime pool volleyball!

Hadley meeting her Great Great Aunt Carol (my grandma's sister)

Had to get a family photo with Dad's golf buddy Dean and his wife.  They are the cutest couple and Dad, Craig and Jim have played golf with him for years.

All decked out for the game!  We lost - boo :(

The hammock was a good spot for catching some zzzz's :)

Spending Monday in the pool again!

Uncle Jim getting a turn with Hads

Monday while Brady was napping we took Hadley in the pool for the very 1st time!  It is pretty special because now all 3 of my kids have gone in the pool their very first time at my Mom and Dad's house!
She loved it of course - she loves the water :)  Thanks for all the photos C!

Cute little buddies :)

Right before Jim, Christine & Ben left Monday night we caught these cute pics of the kids sitting out back

We spent our last night in the hot tub and enjoying one final CA sunset before we had to head home

Headed home...my little helper

Chase was making sure Brady didn't fall on the train - pretty dang cute way to end :)

We absolutely loved our time in CA and can't wait for our next adventure!!
