Chase turns 3!!!

A little late but on May 21st my little monkey man turned 3!!! I cannot believe he is 3 already. Although the toddler age is a little crazy I definitely think this age is sooo fun because we have an actual little person on our hands. It is so fun to have a conversation with Chase and he is so curious about the world around him. I watch him and Brady and am amazed at how much a child changes in just 3 short years!

We started Chase's big day Friday night by baking a dumptruck cake for his "construction" party the next day. Chase was a big help... can't you tell :)

The finished product of the dumptruck cake!!

Saturday morning Chase woke up to find an alligator teeter-totter waiting for him downstairs from Grandma & Papa T!

Loves those musical cards

Next up - a special breakfast of Mickey Mouse pancakes!

Onto more presents.... a new bike!!!

A DIY car and airplane from Aunt Christine, Uncle Jim & Ben and a set of real golf clubs from Daddy!!

Papa would be so proud :)

Later that day we had Chase's party down at the park by our house. This is the last year I try to plan an outdoor party for my monkey because 2 years in a row we have been killed by the wind! (I think I still have in my mind that we live in CA and the weather will always be good :) ) Last year we tried the park party but it was soooo windy that we had to move it to our house. This year we had a bounce house rented and lots of fun contruction decorations but the wind killed our plans again. We had to cancel the bounce house and couldn't use any of our cute decorations :( We still did the party at the park but it just ended up a little different than I had planned. Luckily during the party the wind died down and the sun came out and it actually ended up being gorgeous - thank goodness! We played on the playground, fed the ducks in the lake, rode on scooters and our roller coaster, colored and ate pizza and ice cream. Also, I was so relieved because one of our neighbor friends offered to bring their mini jump house for the kids. I was soo happy because Chase had been so excited about a bounce house so I was feeling so bad that we had to cancel the big one. It ended up being a very fun party for Chase! Of course he spent the majority of the time riding Kyler's scooter around instead of playing with his friends - ha ha!

After the party at the park we headed back to our house with the whole family to keep the celebration going! The kids played and the adults watched the Preakness and had fun just having some drinks and spending time together. Chase also got to open all his presents from the family - including a new scooter from Aunt Jill that she ran out to get during his party when she saw how much he loved Kyler's scooter at the party :)

We ended the night by singing Happy Birthday to Chase so he could blow out his 3 birthday candles. He didn't get a chance to do it at the park because it was so windy :)

Chase's birthday ended on Sunday when we got to finish opening all his presents from his friends that he got at his party!! What a lucky kid with great little friends :)

NOLA

What do you do when you and all your friends are turning 30? Head to New Orleans of course and act like you are 21 :) This is exactly what 14 of us did 2 weekends ago and it was more fun than I even imagined! Craig and I always talk about how blessed we are that we have so many amazing friends from college - friends that have stayed so close through the years, friends that would do anything for each other and friends who can make your cheeks hurt from laughing when you spend an entire 4 days with them!

We had such an amazing time relaxing kid free (although we missed them:) ) and running around exploring New Orleans (ok let's be honest we just drank the whole time) but man was it fun! Cheers to the start of a great 30th year!

Pat O'Briens for the famous hurricanes!

Here comes the famous "Magnum Hurricane" - 3 gallons of deliciousness :)The whole bar was watching as it was being delivered to our table - hehe!

John loving the hurricane!

Let's drink it...

We did it!

Onto Blacksmith Shop Bar (the oldest building in New Orleans) - so cool.

The next morning we headed to breakfast at Cafe Du Monde in Jackson Square for those famous beignets. They did not disappoint - such amazing food and great Cafe Au Laits!

Trying to get a picture in Jackson Square but our camera got foggy...

Off to start a day of pub crawls starting with some bloody Mary's!

Next stop - a bar known as the home of the "Famous Hand Grenade" - a drink I did not try but was apparentely very strong!

The band at this bar was awesome - I especially loved when the lead singer pulled out his own personal fan to blow in front of him so his hair could be wind swept - haha!

Next, drinks on a balcony overlooking Bourbon street. Such good people watching :)

That night we went to an amazing dinner at Mr. B's restaurant. We had awesome food and had so much fun as a group getting to spend a nice dinner all together!

Emily & Kad with their shrimp bibs :0)

After dinner we hiked to the 1 casino in town. On our way we had to, of course, stop in convenient stores along the way and buy beers that we could brown bag all the way to the casino :) We had way too much fun in these stores!

Hanging out outside the casino... (Maybe we should have stayed outside because we definitely did not win any money once we went inside!)

Tricia and I having fun in a convenient store feeling the spirit of New Orleans :)

Later that night we headed back to Bourbon street for more fun (till 3:30am fun!)

The next day we spent most of the day relaxing in the sun and drinking buckets of Coronitas on the patio of a mexican restaurant...

Poor Steve twisted his ankle on the cobblestone street and had to ice it at the restaurant. What a trooper though - he still went on a walking pub crawl that evening and danced into the late hours of the night :)

Time for our jazz pub crawl...

We spent our last night partying it up on a balcony overlooking Bourbon street and dancing our booties off - so much fun!!
