Skate City Party

For Chase's 6th birthday party he chose Skate City!  I am not really sure why, since he had never been roller skating before, but he got it in his head and that was it :)

I had a huge rush of nostalgia when we walked into Skate City because I haven't been in a roller skating rink since I was little and this rink is decorated totally old school and you feel like you went back in time!  It is so cute!  It was a great set up for a party.  We had our own area in the back and they took care of food and drinks for us.  For anyone that hadn't skated before they had these handrails you could use to help you get around without falling.
Chase got out there right away but was quickly frustrated because he was falling and not understanding the motion of skating.  It is a totally different movement so it takes a little bit to get used to it.  Chase is such a competitive kid and so athletic so he gets easily frustrated when something doesn't come easy to him!  He wanted to give up after a little while and even took his skates off.  Then, him and 2 other little boys decided to put them back on and were practicing on the carpet and rolling down little hills, etc.  At the end of the party, Chase went out on the rink and flew around the whole thing 3 times without a hand rail and he had the biggest smile on his face and had a blast!  He asked when we could come back again next!  Success :)

Gathering in the middle of the rink to sing Happy Birthday to Chase!

They had a few games there as well that were fun to play during skating breaks...

Pizza, cake and ice cream time!

Chase requested a baseball cake so I tried my best :)  Very homemade - lol!

Leaving at the end of the party - he had such a fun time!
That is all that matters :)

Opening presents once we were back home...

Happy Birthday Chase monkey!!!
