Our 1st Garden!

One of the fun things about having our own house is we got to plant our 1st garden this year! Craig built some awesome garden boxes in April (I helped a little :) ) and it has been amazing to watch them go from nothing but dirt to a blooming garden!

We have green beans, tomatoes, jalapenos, bell peppers, snap peas, carrots, basil, onions, garlic, rosemary, mint, parsley and chives!

Take a look at our creation!

Hoelting Hair Salon

Chase has had a few haircuts over the past year but we have always gone to a kiddie salon to get it done. Craig kept telling me that was a waste and he could cut Chase's hair. I secretly feared this whole idea because all I could picture in my head was some sort of army haircut gone wrong! But I went with it and we bought a hair shaving kit at Costco a few months ago but had never used it.

Last night we busted it out and Craig went to work on Chase's ridiculously long hair! Chase was really excited to sit in the chair and get his haircut at first - then he had a little screaming and fighting but it went well for the most part. Telling him his haircut looked "Cool" kept him going :) I have to say I am THOROUGHLY IMPRESSED with how good of a job Craig did - he even used different sizes and blended! Very professional:) Well - that will save us money and the pain of going to the salon from now on!

Here's some "During" shots I got of Craig at work.....

And the "AFTER" shots! I love his new short hair:) Good job Craig!!

New Kicks!

I found these Converse at Target the other day and I was just dying over them - how cute are they!

Chase was so excited to put on his "cool" new shoes yesterday before school! (Yes he actually said "COOL!") So adorable - plus his old shoes were velcro and he just took them off all day long - hopefully the double knotted laces will stop that!

Follow the Jelly Bean Road... to the Potty!

OK so I have to admit that probably the one thing that I have always not looked forward to as a parent is going through potty training. I don't know why but it just seems like anyone I have ever talked to (especially Mom's of boys) went through many tantrums, battles, accidents, etc getting their son to use the potty. But hey, every piece of parenthood is a new journey right?... so and I'll take it on with full force:) Potty training is also an area of parenting that is sort of left in the air with a huge grey area of time frames of when your child should be potty trained - 2 to 3 1/2 years is a big gap! Our Dr just kept telling me to wait until Chase was showing interest and lucky for us he has been doing this for a few months. We have had a ton of help from his school because they have potty's in their classes and encourage the kids to always try during the day so that was our first step in getting Chase motivated. The past few months Chase will always tell us when he has gone potty in his diaper or he always knows he has to pee right before a bath, etc but that was the extent of it.

So a few weeks ago Craig and I decided to buy a training potty to see if we could get Chase a little more interested in it.

We have it in the downstairs bathroom and he definitely thinks it is cool and wants to sit on it a lot but he never was able to get the timing down right. (My favorite was a few weeks ago he wanted to try in the morning so he got naked and sat down but couldn't pee. I walked out to the living room to get a diaper and he followed me and all I hear behind me is water hitting the floor... he was peeing on the hardwood floor! He was so upset because he knew he had to go but got up about 10 seconds too early - poor guy ha ha! I comforted him and told him good job because he gets it - just need to work on that timing :) )

Anyway - all of this back story is building up to our BREAKTHROUGH moment 2 nights ago!!! Chase said he had to go potty - sat down and peed in his potty!!! Woo Hoo!! He was soo excited and proud of himself and quickly demanded his favorite prize of jelly beans!

Hopefully this is the beginning of a very easy potty training journey (hey, a girl can dream right!) It would be huge to have Chase out of diapers by the time the new baby comes... we'll see!

And Baby Makes 4!

After 8 months our baby prayers for a new bundle of joy finally came true!! I will never forget the moment I found out. It was April 28th and I was in Portland on a work trip. That day I felt a little nauseaus so I had a little glimmer of hope that maybe this month was the month but I had been let down the last 8 months in a row so I tried not to get too excited. After I got done for the day I ran by the drug store and got back to my hotel. After 3 positive pregnancy tests I finally realized as happy tears flowed that my baby prayers had been answered! The worst part of the whole night was not being able to share the news with Craig! I wanted to tell him in person the next day when I got home so I just bubbled in excitement on my own while trying desperately to go to sleep (it was hard!)

When I got home the next night I told Craig I got him an early birthday gift (his birthday was a few days later on May 3rd.) I handed him a bag and in it was a onesie I had bought a few months ago that says "Dad Loves Me" and the pregnancy tests were in there too.

He pulled the onesie out and it took a few seconds because he thought it was a shirt for Chase but then I saw the moment when he saw "NB" as the size and he just looked at me and gasped and grabbed me for the biggest hug he could give. We just hugged and cried (me and maybe Craig had a tear in his eye :) ) and relished in our joyous moment.

We told our families on Mother's Day and were able to tell my family via Skype. Here is Chase posing with the way we told them (he was about to go take a nap so ignore the mad look on his face - ha ha).

Luckily my sister was there because Mom & Dad didn't really get it - my Dad joked that he wants us to stop playing games and just tell him "I'm Pregnant" next time! It's true - you always feel like you have to come up with some fun way to tell everyone! That night we had dinner with Craig's whole family and were able to tell them in person.

We are beyond excited for our new arrival! My due date is Jan 7th - which is so cool because it is my Mom's birthday! Unfortunately that won't happen since it will be a planned C-section so I will actually deliver a week early. So we should have a New Year's baby delivered on either Dec 30th or 31st!! All of our ultrasounds have gone great and the baby looks perfect and healthy!

Lastly - we need to think of something to call the baby since we are not finding out the sex - there will be no He or She - so instead of calling it "It" we should probably think of something cuter for the next 5 months! Until then send me your baby prayers for a healthy new addition to the Hoeltings!

Breckenridge 2010

Craig's parents have a time share in Breckenridge that they get to spend a week at every summer. They always invite all the kids up for a few days and this is the first time we have been able to go in about 5 years. Unfortunately we only got to go for 1 night because we couldn't take any time off of work but it was a GREAT 2 days and 1 night!!

As we drove up to Breck we noticed there were a ton of bikers on the rode. I looked it up on my phone and it was the Triple Bipass race going on - a 120 mile race going over Squaw, Loveland and Vail Pass - Crazy! Later in the day during our bike ride we shared a path with them for about 2-3 miles!

Renting bikes in Frisco! We did a 19 mile roundtrip bike ride from Frisco to Breck and back. Going was much tougher than we expected - it was all uphill! It was a blast though and Chase was so excited to wear his helmet and ride in his trailer!

Craig had the tough job of pulling 50 extra lbs of weight through the bike ride!

Beautiful trail

Made it to Breck for a much needed lunch break and time to stretch our legs!

After our bike ride we headed to the time share to hang out with the whole family. Our first stop was the pool and hot tub so all the kids and Dad's could go swimming!

Root Beer floats for dessert! Chase's first taste of soda - he liked it - uh oh :)

The next day we started the morning by jumping on the gondola and heading up to the "Fun Zone" area with the Alpine Slide, trampolines, gold mining and all kinds of fun kids activities. We spent all our time at the Alpine Slide!

Craig and Chase coming down the slide!

Chase heading up the lift with Papa for his next run down the slide

3rd and final run with Daddy - Chase was loving it!

Craig & Chase following Brad & Carson

Kyler, Austin & Drew are so cute when they get to hang out - I ran behind them to catch this picture!

We found a great photo op at the top of the mountain and took advantage to get some family shots!

Later that day (after much needed naps) we headed out for a gorgeous hike!

Our hike was through the trees right next to a stream - it was soo beautiful and relaxing!

What a fun few days - can't wait till next year!
