Have you ever seen a cast so small?
What happened??
Well, our little guy has been a walking machine lately and when we left him in CO he was doing amazingly well on his own. Of course he is still clumsy and falls a lot and he took a wrong fall the Friday night before we got back. Grandma & Papa said he cried like he was hurt but then calmed down and you couldn't see anything externally. Craig & I arrived back in CO Sat night and Chase seemed ok but absolutely refused to put any pressure on his right foot and if you stood him on it he would wince and fall... so we knew something was up. We flew home Sunday night so we didn't get a chance to get him into the Dr until Monday. We went to the Pediatrician - got sent to get x-rays(which was horrifying - they had to bring in extra people to help me hold him down, poor thing) and finally got our diagnosis...
He has a buckle-type fracture on his inside right foot just above the ankle. When the Dr told me over the phone my heart just stopped and hearing he would have to get a cast was just so sad!! I couldn't believe it!
We got into a Ped Orthopedic Surgeon Tuesday and Chase got his baby cast. We did get some good news from this Dr though - it is a minor fracture and Chase only has to have the cast on for 10 days.. thank goodness! Chase did great at the Dr and just watched him with all his curiousity as to what was happening to him - such a sweetheart!
So - how is he doing??.. these pictures should give you a little idea...
Testing out standing on his cast
Having a little one on one convo with the cast.. "Please don't slow me down ok?"
I think he is going to be just fine :)
Chase has amazed Craig & I with how tough he has been this week! He is such a trooper. As sad as his accident is - I just think he looks so cute and sweet at the same time:) We love you monkey - GET WELL SOON!!!
